Vancouver Tutoring Services

As a National Institute for Learning Development (NILD), Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE), Orton-Gillingham (OG), and Search and Teach© tutoring service, We offer a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. NILD, Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment, and Orton-Gillingham are evidence-based teaching methods that aim to develop essential cognitive skills, including memory, attention, reasoning, and problem-solving, and to promote academic success for individuals with learning difficulties. Additionally, Search and Teach© is an early intervention program that focuses on identifying and addressing the early signs of reading difficulties. We use a personalized and flexible approach to cater to each student’s unique learning style and needs, ensuring that they receive the support and guidance necessary to achieve their full potential. Our ultimate goal is to empower our students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their academic and personal lives.

Reading, Writing & Math

We offer specialized tutoring services for children and adults who struggle with reading, writing, and math. Our approach to tutoring is grounded in the principles of educational therapy, which means that we work with our students to address underlying cognitive issues that may be hindering their academic success. By using evidence-based techniques and strategies, we help our students develop the skills they need to become confident, independent learners.

Learning Differences

We provide specialized support to children who have been diagnosed with learning differences or disabilities. We understand that every child learns differently, and we work with our students to identify their unique strengths and weaknesses so that we can tailor our instructions to their individual needs. Whether a child has dyslexia, ADHD, or another learning difference, we provide personalized tutoring services to help them succeed academically and develop a sense of confidence and self-esteem.

Executive Functioning

We offer tutoring services for students struggling with organization, time management, planning, and other executive functioning skills. We understand that these skills are essential for academic success and for developing independence and self-regulation. We work with our students to identify their individual areas of weakness and then provide targeted instruction and support to help them develop and strengthen their executive functioning skills.

Mediated Learning

Mediated learning involves actively guiding and supporting a student’s thinking and problem-solving processes, rather than simply providing them with answers or instruction. By using a variety of techniques, such as questioning, modelling, and scaffolding, we help our students develop their thinking and learning skills. We work to create a supportive and stimulating learning environment, where our students can engage in active dialogue and exploration of ideas.

Tutoring & Homework Help

Limitless Thinkers specializes in educational therapy, and we offer a wide range of tutoring and homework help services designed to meet the unique needs of each student. Lisa McKay is an experienced certified educational therapist, and she works with students to identify their specific learning needs and develop an individualized plan that addresses those needs.

We provide one-on-one tutoring sessions that are structured to build the cognitive skills and academic knowledge students need to succeed in school and in life. Our homework help services are designed to support students as they work through their homework assignments, providing guidance and support as needed. We believe that every child has the potential to learn and succeed, and we are committed to helping each student reach their full potential.

Diagnostic Assessments

We use both formal/standardized tests (the Woodcock-Johnson IV Academic Achievement Test and the Ekwall Reading Inventory) as well as a variety of reliable informal assessments designed to assess your child’s strengths and weaknesses in reading, writing, and math.

Interpreting Psych-Ed Assessments

Do you need help deciphering your child’s Psych-Ed evaluation? We can go over the evaluation in detail, explain what it means, and provide an interpretation of the results from which you can better decide what intervention you child needs.

Math and Language Arts

We have extensive training and experience in teaching math and English that goes beyond subject tutoring. We can identify gaps in learning and provide a program that will address them.

Executive Function Coaching

Executive Functions are a set of skills that can be learned to help with planning, self-monitoring, and impulse control. These can be taught separately.

Cursive Instruction

Educational research confirms that students who are able to write assignments, notes, and essays are able to retain and think more deeply about the subject about which they are writing. Cursive writing also improves visual-motor integration and executive functioning.

Keyboarding/Typing Instruction

While cursive is better for planning written assignments and long-term memory, there is no doubt that being able to type efficiently is a must needed skill. Using an alphabetic system created by Diana Hanbury King, students will quickly learn to type using a multisensory method.

Assessments

Assessments can help identify a student’s academic strengths and challenges. A comprehensive assessment can evaluate a student’s reading, writing, math, and executive functioning skills, as well as social-emotional functioning. The information gathered during an assessment can help in developing an individualized tutoring plan tailored to the student’s unique needs and learning style. Assessments also provide a baseline measure of the student’s abilities, allowing us to track progress over time and adjust instruction as needed.
