About Us
Lisa McKay is a Certified NILD Educational Therapist in Vancouver, BC, Canada with over 14 years of experience in the field of education. Holding a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University, she taught in the Burnaby school district for almost 2 years before moving to the UK. There, she taught for 3 years before moving back to Vancouver in 2002 and focussed on raising a family.
In 2010, she began working for a tutoring company in her neighbourhood. The following year, she started her own tutoring business. She then trained in the Orton-Gillingham Method at Fraser Academy. She saw many students whose ages ranged from 4 to 15, helping them with English, Math and worked with students with Dyslexia. In 2021, Lisa discovered NILD Educational Therapy, a technique used at Fraser Academy. She took Level 1 in the summer of 2021, and Level 2 in the summer of 2022. As part of her learning, Lisa has done extensive reading about structured literacy, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Dyscalculia.
Lisa is a single parent and has two children, 18 and 19, enrolled in post-secondary education.
In her spare time, she enjoys art, gardening, music, and her cats!
Located in Vancouver’s West Side: Lisa works from her home in a cheerful, dedicated space.
